BIOGRAPHY Clare lives the artist’s life these days and has experienced many journeys through an artist’s eye. One of the highlights of Clare’s many journeys in her career as an artist was a mentorship with internationally reknown artist, Kevin Macpherson. Painting in the fields of sunflowers and small quaint villages of L’Angles des Anglin has inspired her work tremendously. Clare has also studied at the prestigious Art Students’ League in New York City as well as the Scottsdale Artists’ School. Her instructors there have been some of the most prominent of the nation. She has also studied at the California Art Institute. Clare travels extensively throughout the year painting on location in such picturesque settings as Carmel, Paso Robles, and once a year she travels to France to help assist with a painting workshop. She considers it a great honor to be allowed to paint in Claude Monet’s sacred grounds. She feels his presence near her while she paints the beautiful lily pads he so lovingly created. It’s heaven on earth for an artist. Clare has been invited to show her work at the LPAPA exhibition, SoCalPapa exhibition in the SJC Mission, Big Sur Arts Intiative, the Roger’s Garden Artist Show, and she had a one-woman showing at Circa 92. She also showed her work in Giverny, France at the Art Study Exposition. She is a member of LPAPA, California Art Club, Monterey Bay’s Plein Air Painters’Association and SoCALPAPA. ARTIST
STATEMENT "In plein air painting, I want to capture the fleeting moment in time. When the sunlight hits the golden leaves on a maple tree in early fall. When the objects in a still life are brought together to tell a story for that moment. All of these beautiful images help me to speak on canvas with oil and a brush. "I’ve
painted with some very distinguished, talented artists and teachers
over the years, and they have had tremendous influence on my passionate
journey in oil painting. I feel fortunate that I paint with artists
of such high esteem who are passionate about their craft and inspire
me to live that artist’s life." |
